Nutritional advice for hair loss sufferers
Published: 23rd of October 2009
The importance of nutrition in the prevention of hair loss has been highlighted by an expert.Hair specialist Dr Rajesh Rajput told the Times of India that eating the right food can restrict enzyme chemicals which cause the condition.
Avoiding sugar, chocolates, pastries and soft drinks was recommended to those who are concerned.
However, some people may find that improving nutrition is not enough to reverse the effects, so hair loss treatment could be required.
According to Dr Rajput, fried foods and red meat can cause an increase in activity in certain glands, which produce enzymes that lead to thin, short hairs that fall out more easily.
Dr Alan Bauman, a hair specialist from the US, was recently quoted by WFTV as suggesting that hair thinning is now "optional" for many of the 100 million people in the country who suffer from the condition.
But he noted: "Many people in the general public don't really know that treatments exist."
