Consumers 'aiming to avoid crash diets'
Published: 22nd of October 2009
Britons are attempting to avoid the need for crash dieting in the new year, research has indicated.According to Clubbz.com, a greater number of people are aiming to prevent weight gain over the Christmas period by exercising in advance.
The sports and hobbies site identified a 67 per cent rise in men searching for health and fitness clubs last month, citing this as evidence that consumers are hoping not to have to diet in January.
Co-founder Rob Yorke remarked: "Prevention is much more successful than cure when it comes to weight gain, starting up an exercise routine in the lead up to Christmas is a great idea."
Crash dieting is known to cause major nutritional problems, the side effects of which can include hair loss. However, those who have suffered from the condition as a result of not eating correctly can use hair loss treatments to reduce the effect.
Research by Aviva recently revealed that some Brits intend to slip back into unhealthy habits, after cost-cutting techniques in the recession caused improvements in many diets.
