With the arrival of a new baby, keeping our hair healthy is often the last thing on our minds, but sadly one in three mums will suffer from hair loss due to the change in hormones that take place throughout the different stages of pregnancy and birth.
Most of us are totally unprepared for this and according to a recent Viviscal survey amongst 4000 people across the UK, three quarters of women think that midwives and ante-natal classes should offer more advice to pregnant women about hair loss after giving birth, and offer diet and lifestyle advice to help boost hair growth.
In response to these findings, Viviscal has teamed up with leading dietician and nutrition consultant, Jane Griffin, to launch the New Mum’s Healthy Hair Diet Plan.
This innovative plan focuses on the nutritional support new mums need after giving birth, to get their bodies’ back on track and help restore hair to its former glory. Leading dietician and nutrition consultant Jane Griffin comments, “This diet plan is an easy-to-follow one which does not require complicated food shopping or long hours in the kitchen but which does supply the essential nutrients that you need after giving birth. It features a healthy combination of fruit and vegetables, oily fish, red meat and wholegrain cereals – all of which will help new mums lose weight and give their hair the essential nutrients it needs to get back on track post birth.”
The 7-day diet plan contains three balanced meals which provide all the nutrients necessary for healthy hair after giving birth or stopping breast-feeding.
