Hairdresser-turned-trichologist to open Lincoln hair loss clinic
Published: 26th of July 2010
An expert has set up a service focusing on hair loss in Lincoln.According to the Lincolnshire Echo, trichologist Iain Sallis - who has also trained in the past as a hairdresser - will be opening the doors to the special clinic on August 23rd and will be holding it every fortnight thereafter at the BMI hospital in Nettleham Road.
Mr Sallis, who runs similar facilities in Hull, York, Leeds and Sheffield, and owns his own salon in the first, said he operates by examining a person's scalp and symptoms for a small fee before speaking to their personal physician about possible treatments and products to buy.
He observed that he decided to study trichology after his years in hairdressing led him to be curious about the causes of certain issues.
"Hair loss, or thinning, can be caused by a number of things, including lack of a certain mineral, a hormone imbalance, shock or illness," he added.
Meanwhile, a group of scientists recently announced they believe they have isolated the gene which could lead to hair loss in alopecia patients.
