Rooney thanks hair loss for extra scoring power
Published: 15th of March 2010
Footballer Wayne Rooney has said that hair loss has helped him improve his goal scoring abilities. The Manchester United striker and England international claimed that his receding hairline has contributed to his success when heading the ball.
He remarked: "It's coming off my bald patch and that's helping me score."
The sportsman made his remarks at a Fifa World Cup trophy promotional event in London after scoring from a header at Old Trafford the night before.
He added: "I've been working on my heading a lot and thankfully it's paying off."
According to Rooney, the fact that he has been playing more upfront, in addition to his hair loss, has contributed to his finishing record of late.
He is not the only celebrity to have been in the news over his baldness recently.
Dave Myers, one half of the Hairy Bikers, spoke of his experience of alopecia as a youngster, which affected him during his teenage years, the South Devon Herald Express reported.
