Common causes of hair loss outlined

Stress has been highlighted as one of the major factors contributing to hair loss.According to a piece published on Articlesbase, a stressful event can cause hair follicles to enter their resting phase.
This in turn slows down the production of new hairs, although the effects may not be seen for three or four months.
Other potential causes highlighted included medication such as blood thinners or birth control pills, while crash diets were also said to have an effect.
However, androgenic alopecia was cited as the main cause of hair loss - with hereditary factors and hormones playing a part in what is often referred to as male pattern baldness.
Dermatologist Shelly Friedman was recently quoted by WTVQ as stating that a new test can help people predict whether they will need hair loss treatment in the future.
A positive result from HairDX indicates that there is a 70 per cent chance of developing male pattern baldness, she explained.
