Hair loss may increase as Brits expect to return to unhealthy habits
Published: 16th of October 2009
Hair loss may increase as Brits expect to return to unhealthy habits Britons could be set to return to unhealthy habits when the recession ends, according to a survey.

With good nutrition known to be a factor in reducing the risk of hair loss, maintaining a healthy diet is important for those who wish to avoid the condition.

And research by Aviva has now indicated that cost-cutting techniques may be improving the health of people in the UK, with many choosing to grow their own vegetables and make lunch instead of eating out.

The insurer explained that such habits are benefiting long-term health, but the survey also revealed only 35 per cent of adults intend to keep up them up after an economic recovery takes place.

Dr Doug Wright, principal clinical consultant at Aviva UK Health, remarked: "Despite anecdotal reports that the recession is bad for your health, this research proves that the recession has prompted some new habits that are actually good for you."

Those who do experience hair loss as a result of a poor diet could benefit from seeking treatment, as hair specialist Dr Alan Bauman recently told WFTV that the products available make the condition "optional".
