Get the look – 2016 Style Guide

Session hair stylist and Viviscal Ambassador Neil Moodie, is a Vogue magazine regular who counts Suki Waterhouse and Cara Delevingne amongst his clients. We’ve worked with Neil to create ‘The Art of Volume’, a series of styling masterclasses which will help you achieve this season’s hottest styles – beach waves, braids, on-trend accessories and a chic up-do. Each four step style guide uses the Viviscal Densifying range products and is illustrated by step by step photos.

Beach Waves - Tousled locks

  1. Wash your hair with Viviscal Densifying Shampoo and Conditioner to leave it looking thicker and fuller.
  2. Rough dry your hair with your fingers and a hairdryer and apply some salt spray.
  3. Once dry, take random sections of hair and wrap it around a curling tong holding for around 3-5 seconds.
  4. Once half of the hair has been tonged, spritz with hairspray and then brush through the curls with your fingers to loosen and create a tousled look. Repeat with the rest of the hair.

Top Tip: “You don’t need to twist the hair in the same direction for each section as you want the hair to look naturally wavy and not too uniform

Neil Moodie, Session Stylist and Viviscal Ambassador.

Braids - The Messy Side Braid

  1. Wash hair to inject body. For added volume, apply Viviscal Fibres to the crown, working them into sections with the comb and your fingers.
  2. Using your fingers, part the hair into three strands, plait in a semi-loose French braid and tie with an elastic band, leaving minimal hair at the end of the band.
  3. Loosen the braid using your fingers to create more texture. You want the braid to look wider and flatter.
  4. 4. Loop the braid upwards, pinning the end to the top. You want it to be just above your ear. Add as many pins as you need to secure it in place.
  5. For added volume, adjust the braid by using your fingers to create texture.

Top Tip: “For added volume, adjust the braid by using your fingers to create texture. You can make it as messy or as neat as you like.

Neil Moodie, Session Stylist and Viviscal Ambassador.

On-Trend Accessory - The Hair Piece

  1. Prepare the hair with Viviscal Densifying Elixir to add texture and volume. Towel dry into the hair. Rough dry hair with hairdryer.
  2. Pull hair into a ponytail using fingers and twist upwards into a pleat. With a U pin, secure the hair at the twist.
  3. Create a knot shape and secure with more pins. Loosen the knot to add texture.
  4. Create whichever shape you like and keep playing with it until you have the desired effect. Add accessories of your choosing.

Interesting fact: “The humble Alice band was brought back with a twist in the Spring/Summer 2016 shows, with designers such as Dolce & Gabbana opting for gorgeous decorated gold headpieces.

Chic up-do - The Voluminous Ponytail

  1. Wash your hair and roughly blowdry with your fingers to leave it looking naturally thicker and fuller. Apply the Viviscal Fibres to the crown section by section for added volume.
  2. Separate the top portion of your hair and gently backcomb the crown to create additional volume and height.
  3. Once backcombed, gather all your hair, pull it back into a ponytail and secure with a bungee hair tie (to avoid pulling on the volume created at the crown).
  4. Take random sections of hair and wrap around a curling tong holding for around 3-5 seconds to curl. Once finished, brush through the curls so they look tousled for the perfect ponytail.

Top Tip: “To ensure that your hair looks as thick and as full as possible take Viviscal Maximum Strength hair supplements. Nourishing the hair from the inside out is the most effective way of getting hair looking its healthiest.

Neil Moodie, Session Stylist and Viviscal ambassador.
