A new Viviscal survey amongst 4000 people across the UK reveals that nearly 50% of women don’t know that dieting can lead to hair loss or hair thinning and a worrying trend in extreme dieting means that as many as one in eight women put their hair loss down to trying to lose weight.
Leading dietician and nutrition consultant Jane Griffin comments, “Hair thrives on a plentiful supply of protein, vitamins and minerals. A lack of protein is often at the root of hair loss and because hair is considered non-essential by the body, if you are lacking in nutrients it will often be your hair that suffers first. Eating badly affects new hair growth which can slow or halt it altogether, leading to excess shedding, hair breakage and weak connection of the hair strand at the root.”
To help women lose weight and still maintain the health of their hair, Viviscal has launched the Luscious Locks Diet Plan. Created by Jane Griffin, the 7-day diet plan contains three balanced meals which provide all the nutrients necessary for healthy hair, while helping people to lose up to 2lbs a week in weight.
